Image Editor Topic Tree

The Topic Tree provides a convenient way to organize and locate images based on their assigned topics.

To use the Topic Tree, you must first import and activate a topic group using the Topic Editor. Images should also have one or more topics assigned.

Opening the Topic Tree

To display the Topic Tree:

  1. Open the Image Editor window.
  2. Enable the Topic Tree checkbox located in the lower-left corner of the window.

The Topic Tree will appear beside the image viewer.

Topic Hierarchy

Topics are organized in a hierarchical tree.

Each topic may contain one or more child topics, allowing subjects to be organized from general categories down to increasingly specific topics.

This makes it easy to browse large collections of related topics.

Filtering Images

The Topic Tree can be used to filter the images.

To filter images:

  1. Select a topic in the Topic Tree.
  2. Enable the Topic Filter checkbox located at the top right of the image viewer.

The image viewer will display only images that are associated with a topic from the selected node descendant branch.

This allows you to quickly focus on a particular area of a subject.

Searching the Topic Tree

If the Topic Tree contains many topics, you can search for a particular topic by name.

To search:

  1. Enter text into the search box above the Topic Tree.
  2. The first topic whose name contains the search text is automatically selected.
  3. Use the Next and Prev buttons to move to the next or previous matching topic.

The search is useful for locating topics quickly without manually expanding and browsing the tree.

Assigning Topics to Images

The Topic Tree is most effective when images have been assigned one or more topics.

Images without assigned topics cannot be located using topic filtering.
