The Statistics tab provides a summary of the contents of a question bank.
Statistics help you understand the composition of your question bank and identify areas that may need improvement. They are especially useful when preparing to generate exams using the Random Exam Wizard.
A well-balanced question bank with complete question attributes produces more informative statistics and provides greater flexibility during exam generation.
Available Statistics
PrimeExam reports the number and percentage of questions in several categories, including:
- Question type
- Difficulty level
- Assigned topics
- Assigned resources
- Assigned images
- True/False questions whose correct answer is True
- True/False questions whose correct answer is False
These statistics make it easy to determine whether your question bank is balanced and whether important question attributes have been assigned consistently.
Question Index Statistics
The Statistics tab also provides information about question index groups.
This includes:
- A list of every question index group.
- The number of questions in each index group.
- An index group frequency summary showing how many groups exist for each group size.
These statistics help you understand how many questions have been matched together and how frequently multiple versions of the same question occur within the question bank.
See Question Index.
Why Statistics Are Important
Question bank statistics provide another measure of the overall health of a question bank.
For example, statistics can quickly reveal:
- Whether questions have been assigned difficulty levels.
- Whether topics have been assigned consistently.
- Whether resources and images are being used effectively.
- Whether question types are balanced.
- Whether True and False answers are reasonably balanced.
- Whether similar questions have been grouped using question indexes.
The more complete the question information, the more useful these statistics become.
Collection Statistics
If a question bank contains collections, statistics can be viewed for either:
- The entire question bank.
- A selected collection.
This allows you to compare the makeup of individual collections with that of the overall question bank.
Viewing Question Bank Statistics
To view statistics:
- Open the Question Bank window.
- Select the desired question bank.
- Select the Statistics tab.
- Choose whether to view statistics for the entire question bank or, if available, for a specific collection.
The statistics are updated to reflect the selected scope.
