Create Exam Manually

PrimeExam provides two ways to create exams:

• Manually, by selecting the exact questions to include.
• Automatically, by using the Random Exam Wizard.

Manual exam creation gives you complete control over which questions appear on the exam and in what order they appear.

When to Create an Exam Manually

Creating an exam manually is useful when:

• You want complete control over the exam contents.
• You are preparing a custom exam.
• You need to include specific questions.
• You are reviewing or revising an existing exam.

If you want PrimeExam to select questions automatically according to criteria such as topics, difficulty, and question type, use the Random Exam Wizard instead.

Preparing the Windows

Creating an exam manually is easiest when both the Question Bank Window and the Exam Editor are visible.

To prepare:

1. Open the Question Bank window.
2. Select the question bank containing the questions you want to use.
3. Open the Exam Editor window.
4. Select the exam you wish to edit.

If the exam does not already exist:

1. Click Add above the exam list.
2. Enter the new exam information.
3. Save the new exam.

Arrange the two windows so that both the Question Bank question list and the Exam question list are visible.

This makes selecting and transferring questions much easier.

Adding Questions

To add questions using the Add Question button:

1. Select one or more questions in the Question Bank question list.
2. Click Add Question in the Exam Editor.

The selected questions are added to the exam.

You may repeat this process as many times as necessary until the exam is complete.

Using Drag and Drop

Questions may also be added using drag and drop.

To do this:

1. Select one or more questions in the Question Bank.
2. Drag the selected questions.
3. Drop them onto the Exam question list in the Exam Editor.

Drag and drop is often the fastest way to build an exam when both windows are visible.

Reviewing the Exam

After all questions have been added:

• Review the question order.
• Verify that the correct questions have been included.
• Remove any unwanted questions.
• Make any necessary edits before publishing.

The exam can be modified at any time prior to publication.

Publishing the Exam

Once the exam is complete, use the publishing commands in the Exam Editor to generate the final HTML and PDF versions.
